Bahamas Nassau International Airport (NAS)
Airport Information
(Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, West Indies)
The Bahamas Nassau International Airport (NAS) also goes by the name of the Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) and is a small, but busy facility. Handling flights from a variety of carriers, Nassau Airport connects both domestic and international destinations and is the main hub for the locally run Bahamasair airline, which regularly flies to the Spanish port city of Spain and a number of resorts in Florida. Other prominent airlines include British Airways, Continental Airlines and Delta.
The airport is located on the western side of New Providence Island and features two terminals, each with a single asphalt-surface runway. A large proportion of the airport's traffic is to and from US and Canadian destinations. Bahamas Nassau International Airport offers fairly basic amenities and can in no way compare with the world's busy international airports in terms of overall facilities.

Nassau Airport is sited close to Lake Killarney and has no public transport infrastructure. Taxis and hire cars remain the only options for travel around New Providence, or to the nearby islands, via ferry.
Bahamas Nassau International Airport (NAS) Information: History and Facilities
Founded many years ago on the western side of New Providence island, Nassau International Airport immediately opened up the Bahamas for tourism. In 2006, Nassau Airport was renamed and is now officially known as the Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), after the very first of the Bahamas prime ministers.
Currently the biggest and busiest airport in the whole of the Bahamas, Nassau Airport is located directly south of Gambier Village and Orange Hill Beach, to the east of Lyford Cay, and north of Adelaide Village and its associated beach. Also nearby is Coral Heights, Lake Nancy, Mount Pleasant, Orange Hill and Tusculum.
Facilities at Nassau Airport are fairly basic and comprise a single cafe within the departures area, several shops, including a duty-free outlet, and a brand of the Royal Bank of Canada in Terminal A. There are currently no business or conference facilities on hand at the airport. Therefore business travellers are obliged to use those available at nearby hotels, such as the Radisson Cable Beach, or instead head into the capital city of Nassau. Tourist information booths are on hand in both terminals to deal with passenger enquiries.
